Frequently Asked Questions

Why have a coach?

If your work leaves you feeling unfulfilled, or you're not always as effective as you could be - coaching can help change that. We all have strengths that we're not fully using, or that we're overusing and are 'getting in our own way'.  An organisational coach helps us find better ways to use those strengths creatively in our work-lives.

Whether you're at the top of your profession, working your way there, or just stuck, a coach can help you unlock potential and bring about results you didn't think possible. Those results will benefit you directly, and also benefit your workplace.

What does a coach do?

A coach is there to do one thing - to help you identify actions that you are capable of taking, that will bring about change. Your coach will help you get curious about what is really going on, and to see possibilities in a situation that you wouldn't otherwise have seen. A good coaching conversation helps you 'get outside yourself' and see the patterns of thinking and acting that might be constraining you. The coach will help you identify a range of actions you could take to improve a situation. You choose the actions that are right for you, and then the work is up to you.

A good coach will support, encourage, and also challenge you.

What if I'm not a leader or executive?

Leadership is something we all do, no matter what our title, or how many people report to us. It may be that we only lead ourselves - but 'leading oneself' is exactly where high performing leaders focus first, each and every day.

Seeing ourselves from a different perspective requires a bit of courage, but, no matter our role, our age, or our experience, we can act to improve our creative effectiveness.

How much time is involved?

This will depend on the nature of your goals, and how much work you can put into them. A typical pattern is a 90 minute initial session, followed by some shorter catchups to check on progress and identify any new priorities.

Good outcomes are usually achieved in 3-5 sessions. Some people like to check in with their coach regularly after that, or when they encounter a new set of challenges.

I don't know if coaching is for me?

We are happy to explore this with you in an introductory discussion so you can decide if coaching would benefit you.

Is this Life coaching?

Lime Coaching focus on worklife coaching, and not personal life coaching.

However, participants typically report that the benefits extend well beyond the workplace and into every area of their life.
